Bedford Street

No reason, I just love this view along Bedford Street as you look towards Gresty Road and the modern main stand at the Alex. Take away the cars, for sale sign and steel structure that towers above the terracing and it could be a different era, when steam trains dominated and most people from the surrounding streets were employed by The Works. Taken last Friday as I walked to the ground to buy some tickets for the Vale match. It's just a nightmare to navigate for drivers, but then where else could the residents park?

Another COOP!

Once upon a time, this is where the George pub stood. They didn't get enough custom to keep it going, but the COOP thinks that it's the perfect spot for another mini-supermarket. Strange, really, as there is one about 500 yards away on Minshull New Road! But I'm sure they know best. There's another unit planned, possibly a take-away, and a plot of housing will be built later this year.

Not just One Direction!

The King George V playing fields now boast some swanky new signs. All part of the Sustrans Cycle Path that winds its way around the pitches, connecting Queens Park with the Rising Sun pub. The next phase will see the route cross the busy Middlewich Road and continue past Alverston Hall and on to Nantwich...

No need for covers?

The ground isn't frozen but there's a chance of rain/sleet ahead of this weekend's match against Northampton. Will the covers be required, or will Gresty Road finally see some action? When did we last have a home game?
